Hello! recently we’ve had an endless string of snowstorms. I usually love snow, but for once I just want it to stop. It has been quite fun to have snow days, though we’ll be in school until the end of june. Anyways, I wanted to share some pictures an outfit I’ve been wearing quite a lot recently. The dress is a pink cotton dress, corseted in the back, with lines of white lace on the boddess from Milanoo. The shirt is a white vintage blouse trimmed with black ric rac, and round black buttons. The tights were a gift, and the shoes were borrowed. Here are some pictures, enjoy Megan

Hey! Sorry for the hiatus.. I’ve been quite busy since the start of school. I’m in the fall musical Annie Get Your Gun. Although I’m not too crazy about the musical I enjoy being in the productions.

Anyways, Modcloth was having a pretty cool sale in August and I got quite a few extremely cheap items including this pink and red colorblocked, half-circle skirt. The jacket is an old Nordstrom jacket, I’m wearing mystery Oxford’s, and my vintage crinoline.

Hopefully I’ll get around to posting sooner than next month!

Hello! I’m back! This is an old outfit I never got around to posting… it’s incredibly humid here.

Anyways I’m wearing and old H&M black shirt, a thrifted purple polka-dotted dress, black suede boots, and my favorite Betsey Johnson Marilyn Monroe tights. Its kind of a bizarre combination but the tights don’t have much life left in them after several years of use so I thought I might as well use them while I can!

Hey! Wow I can’t believe its been almost a month since I last posted! Since I’ve been gone alot has happened. Right now I am a taking two Rhode Island School of Design classes in which we have been designing and sewing! I’ll post the pictures of my creation later! I’m almost done…

Also I am now officially 15! I really cant believe I’m going to be a sophomore- its really strange to think that I am so old. I’m not sure I’m too fond of it. My birthday was the 22 of July, and I had a lot of fun celebrating with a few of my best friends

Plus I am extremly excited about a new vintage quilted floral print dress with ric rack I just bough. Unfortunalty it was on the expensive side, but oh well. Heres another picture.

Eww Orange

Hello! Sorry to have been away, a friend from Denmark has been staying with my family and we have been incredibly busy showing her around. I wore this on Monday to the airport, and was rather fond of it. I usually think orange is a generally unflattering and unattractive color, this is one of the few exceptions. The skirt is vintage with three tiers of fabric and borders of lace ribbon and lace. The top I purchased at a RISD clothing sale from a student, and the jacket is from Nordstroms. The pin and the necklace are from Aldo, while the shoes were extremely expensive Sally’s of London shoes purchased at Modcloth. Lately I have been curling my hair with curlers every night to and love the bouncy child-like look. In the future I might comb them out a little just so they don’t look quite so fake.

Waterfire

Hello! The beautiful Waterfire in Providence is one of my favorite things, and I went for the first time this summer last weekend. Waterfire was originally an art installation in Providence in which gondolas transported flame lighters to hundreds of small raised bonfires in the canal which runs through the city. They are lit and tended to throughout the night beginning at sundown. There’s swing dancing, canolis, roasted almonds, art, dancers, human statues, and it is generally and amazing time. Two of my best friends Lilli and Anna, as well as our families and siblings went to Waterfire together to see the lighting. We had an amazing time eating, dancing, and especially watching the lighting of the fires from the gondolas. I wore a vintage dress I’ve been meaning to post for a while. It is navy blue cotton with large patches of hand quilted fabric. It was supposedly a costume for the middle child in a family singing group in the sixties, and I’m in love with it. The design and collar are so unique I’ve never seen a collar like it, and it carries over exactly to the back like it appears in the front. Thanks if you read my rant… anyways here are the pictures.

Hey guys- the awesome Dayzee from styledynamite.blogspot.com conducted an interview with me- here it is!

Introduce yourself in 10 words or less.

I’m Megan- I love vintage, color, patterns and play drums

When did you start your blog and why?

I started my blog last September, I believe. I decided to start my blog really just to have a place that I could share my style and network with other like-minded individuals. Before I started my blog I discovered so many amazing blogs which really inspired me to share my own style and continue to love fashion.

If you had a superhero alter-ego, which powers would they have?

If I had a superhero alter ego ( which I should definitely develop) I would be able to selectivley read minds. It would take so much effort and over analyzing out of my life. I wouldn’t have to worry about who was lying to me, or about trying to interpret any awkward social situations… Also, and I know its kind of a typical awnser, but I would also be able to fly. I just think it would be amazing to fly, and I would never have to worry about being trapped in giant crowds or getting separated from anyone, because I could simply fly up and scan the crowd. I mean – really, who wouldn’t want to fly?

What is your favourite type of Candy?

My favorite types of candy are the amazing Haribo Happy Cola, Cherries, and Gummy Bears, York Peppermint Patties, and waxy Red Vines! Yummmm…

What is it about Bindis that you love?

I have been wearing Binids since I was in second grade and have been forced to explain why I’m wearing “a dot” on my head probably thousands of times since then. I am not Hindu, or Buddhist and never have been, nor is my family associated with India in any way. I simply love India- the culture, the people, the food. It’s all gorgeous, and so amazing. Bindis in history have been selectively related to religion or philosophy- or marriage, but in recent history they have become a third eye or spiritual sense, just a sign of appreciation of culture, or a fashion statement. I think they are beautiful and love the way they look on my face, and on people in general. I have been chased down in many places and interrogated about my race, religion, and marital status, but I continued wearing them because I love them, and they have become a part of me in a way- I have been wearing them for seven years.

Who/what is your biggest inspiration whilst putting together your outfits?

Mostly I am inspired by vintage, a few favorite films, and my favorite bloggers. I have many vintage pieces and love everything about vintage- from wearing something with such a long story, to just the unique fabrics and silhouettes that are hard to come upon today. My favorite movies Harold and Maude, and Welcome to the Dollhouse are also a big source of inspiration. My favorite blogs are Quirky Explosion, Fated to be Hated, A Fluffy Blog, and Fashion Pirate.

Which place in the world would you most like to visit?

I would love to visit Mumbai, India, for the culture, people, food, and fashion. In addition I desperately want to visit Thailand- for the delicious food!

Your top 5 most played songs?

Trouble by Cat Stevens, I’m in the Band by Bratmoblie, Eet by Regina Spektor, World Clique by Deee-Lite, Frank Sinatra by Cake.

Do you ever get nonsense from people about the way you present yourself? If so how do you handle it?

Yeah- I get nonsense all the time, at school and in public. If someone at school is rude I usually ask them why they feel the compulsion to lower others self esteem. That usually catches them off guard, If someone at school stares I usually just think confidently and walk by not paying them any attention. In public I act similarly, but if stares get too intense I smile and wave to let them know I see them. I have had some pretty awkward confrontations with people on the street where my Mom had stepped in and asked someone to stop staring, but that only makes me feel the need to keep dressing the way I do just to prove that all that doesn’t matter.

So do you have any tips for readers about not caring what anyone thinks and wearing what you want?

Yeah definitely! I am pretty confident in myself, and have become this way slowly after many years of having people stare at me, talk about me, and question me. When I hear a stranger whispering about me, or staring at me, I usually smile and wave to let them know they haven’t hurt me and that I can hear them. In respect to personal style no one but you matters! Don’t over think, don’t run through what so-and-so will think about the dress you’re trying on, or what guys will think about you- anyone who is a somewhat decent person will accept you the way you are and appreciate you. Pick what you wear because it makes you happy, and you like it. Ultimately don’t think about anyone else- the way you look is your choice and originality is far more beautiful than conformity, and as Eleanor Rosevelt said “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

If you could have lunch with any 3 people dead or alive, who would it be?

I would have lunch with Betty Freidan – the womens rights activist in the sixties, Elaine from a Fluffy Blog, and Regina Spektor. We would have a feast of Pad-Thai, Samosas, Chicken Tikki Masala, Tofu Triangles, Trader Joe’s Mini Chicken Tacos, Newman’s Own Lemonade, and Baklava! Yay!
